Maryland Transportation Authority Turns to RITIS and New Report Templates to Provide a Labor Day Travel Forecast to the Traveling Public

Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is responsible for the construction, management, and operations of eight toll facilities – two turnpikes, two tunnels, and four bridges – that help keeps traffic moving in the state of Maryland. Prior to Labor Day this past September, MDTA utilized RITIS Probe Data Analytics (PDA) to assess the best (and worst) times to travel – and expected congested corridors – during the holiday week. Using historic and trending congested conditions on Maryland roadways, MDTA operations staff prepared a RITIS Labor Day Travel Forecast for the public information office (take a look at the press release here). MDTA has used these templates for other recent holiday travel forecasts, including Memorial Day and Thanksgiving, posting them on their website as well as Twitter and Facebook to maximize outreach to the traveling public.
