The Speed and Travel Time Table is a go-to widget for traffic management centers and operations centers across the country, and it just got more powerful. New line charts in the RITIS Probe Data Analytics (PDA) Dashboard show the readings for each selected corridor over the course of the current day, so operators can see not only where a corridor stands right now, but how it got there.

That trend view matters most in real-time operations, when an operator needs to know whether congestion is building, clearing, or holding steady. It also adds situational awareness on roadways where CCTV cameras aren’t available, since probe data covers the miles that cameras don’t. To show a chart, click a corridor’s name or the arrow to its left. The gear menu lets you turn line charts on or off and adjust each chart’s start time.

Regional operations centers already lean heavily on this widget. The Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination (MATOC) Program, a partnership of DDOT, MDOT, VDOT, and WMATA, builds PDA dashboards of speed and travel time tables to watch highways across the National Capital Region, segmented by rural, suburban, and urban, and by corridor, such as I-95 in Virginia. MATOC also includes the tables in its incident alerts, giving partner agencies and leadership a quick view of conditions on the affected route and its alternates. Adding a daily trend to each corridor gives those operators even more context to work with.
