The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is improving holiday travel planning with RITIS Probe Data Analytics (PDA) Suite. This was showcased in a 2024 Fourth of July Weekend Travel Forecast for the I-10 Corridor, posted on X on July 2, 2024. Using RITIS PDA and INRIX historic probe speed data, TxDOT predicts traffic patterns and congestion hotspots along the I-10 Corridor from Sierra Blanca to Orange. The infographic, which was configured from one of the many holiday travel forecast report templates available to RITIS users, highlights heavy traffic times (e.g., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday) and lighter windows, aiding travelers in planning safer routes through key areas like San Antonio and Houston. This data-driven approach enables TxDOT to create accurate travel guides, shared via social media to boost public awareness and support TSMO goals, reducing delays during holidays.
